Foreign Office, October 18, 1910. BURMAH-YUNNAN frontier. See my despatch No. 288 of the 16th August. Please ascertain and report by telegraph whether views expressed in his memorandum to Government of Burmah of the 24th May last as to the strength and efficiency of the Chinese forces, and probability of an attack on the escort, are still held by acting consul at Tengyueh.

Please report at same time whether acting consul or any one else has heard that Chinese modern troops will be moved from Talifu to frontier. If so, how long would it take to march them that distance f
